Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah is around 8,000 to 9,000 feet high and temperatures range from well below freezing to warm summer heat. The air is often amazingly clear allowing stupendous wide angle views across the amphitheatre as well as allowing light to bounce around the walls producing apparent translucence of the pinnacles known as hoodoos produced by erosion.
