NiSi Filters – first impressions

I recently returned from a fantastic trip to the Lofoten Islands in Arctic Norway with my wife Carolyn and friends Dimitri Vasileiou and David Hay. Dimitri is the editor of Landscape Photography Magazine and he brought along some new NiSi filters to try. I have to say that I was impressed by the quality of both the filters and the reinforced leather pouch supplied. Their polariser fits right inside the filter adaptor which reduces vignetting. The 10 stop ND filter worked extremely well and there was almost no colour cast.
I have written a full review for the magazine. Look out for it!

Bamburgh Beach

In March I was teaching on a Long Exposures workshop with Inspiring Photography. As a tutor you don’t get much chance to do your own photography but on the final evening all the clients were blissfully capturing the waves on Bamburgh Beach so I quickly made my own interpretation of the swirling interaction of sea, sand and stone. Not a typical ‘milky water’ long exposure but one taken at 0.8 second. I think it captures the retreating wave rather nicely.
