Landscape Photography Magazine issue 46

I put together some ideas about planning a landscape shoot for this month’s issue of LPM. I decided to emphasise how smartphone apps and online maps can aid the planning process, as well as giving some old-fashioned sensible advice about what to pack.

Focussing and Depth of Field

Never an easy topic to explain but one that is essential for beginners in landscape photography to understand. Focussing and depth of field are described in my latest Beginner’s Guide series article in Landscape Photography Magazine issue 45, out now. Hope I did it justice!

My latest article published in LPM

My latest article in Landscape Photography Magazine is about Tilt and Shift lenses.

This image of Blea Tarn in the English Lake District was taken with a 45mm tilt and shift lens on a full frame DSLR. The boulder is only 2 – 3 feet away yet its surface is in perfect focus and so is the mountain in the distance. To find out how this was achieved read the article: Link – http://landscapephotographymagazine.com/2013/a-guide-to-tilt-and-shift-lenses/
